The Aurora Civic Center Authority (ACCA), an innovative organization located on Stolp Island in the Fox River in the heart of the richly diverse community of historic Aurora, Illinois (one hour from downtown Chicago), is seeking a Part Time Front of House Manager. ACCA is the parent organization, which also includes a 501(c)3 arm under the name of Paramount Arts Centre, Inc. It operates three performance venues: the 6,000-person RiverEdge Park, the 1,843-seat landmark Paramount Theatre, and the 165-seat Copley Theatre. ACCA produces and presents over 300 performances each year, including star-studded touring productions and a self-produced Broadway Series of musicals for an annual audience of 350,000 patrons from over 250 communities. ACCA proudly operates the Paramount School of the Arts in the new John C. Dunham Aurora Arts Center, right next door to Paramount Theatre in downtown Aurora, and the company looks forward to producing a new, Bold Series of plays and musicals in the newly renovated Copley Theatre beginning in the 2021-2022 season. Paramount Theatre also hosts free community events, $1 Classic Movie Mondays and its opulent interiors provide a spectacular backdrop for private functions such as wedding receptions or corporate galas. Across the street from Paramount Theatre are the gorgeous Meyer Ballrooms which play host to multiple wedding receptions and rental events throughout the year.

DEPARTMENT: Front of House, all venues. Including but limited to Paramount Theatre, Copley Theatre, RiverEdge Park and Stolp Island Theatre

DIRECT REPORTING: Director of FOH Operations

POSITION STATUS & SCHEDULE – Hourly, non-exempt; 8-9 hour days (evenings, weekends and holiday availability are required) and are dependent on event schedule.

COMPENSATION – Starting at $20 per hour, plus complimentary or discounted tickets to certain events.

HIRE DATE – Immediate

POSITION SUMMARY – The Front of House Manager is responsible for delivering the highest caliber of patron services during productions, while managing Front of House operations of events. This role will ensure a solid patron experience for all venue guests, will address, document, and resolve all guest concerns and emergency situations, and will manage, mentor, and support the Front of House team. This position will work closely with the Aurora Police Department and our security team to ensure a safe environment.


-Keep some office hours, attend management meetings and work event hours.
-Manages FOH performances and events at Paramount Theatre, Copley Theatre and Riveredge Park (REP), Stolp Island Theatre and any future venue.
-Welcome the public to the theatre and oversee their guest experience including safety and well-being before, during, and immediately after the show.
-Answer questions, listen to patrons’ concerns, make audience members feel welcome and resolve any conflicts that may arise.
-Ensure guest compliance to all event policies.
-Liaison between ACCA senior staff and Front of House Event Staff.
-Follow event layouts as prescribed on the event sheets and floor plans without guidance.
-Prioritize and schedule work assignments. Ensure proper scheduling, directly or through others, of all staff and vendors to provide the proper coverage for all services at performances/events.
-Collaborate with all Front of House staff, direct, supervise and mentor staff and volunteer ushers on a consistent basis.
-Supervision of a large, diverse part time staff.
-Handle potentially upset patrons in a professional manner and be able to problem solve.
-Have proficient knowledge of the POS system & inventory procedures, within 30 days of employment.
-Have proficient knowledge of ticket scanners, radios and other audiovisual equipment, within 30 days of employment.
-Work closely to help coordinate and work with multiple departments on an event-to-event basis.
-Fully understand how all beer & soda dispensing equipment operates and be able to help troubleshoot when needed.
-Manage multiple projects and assignments.
-All other duties as assigned.


-1+ years in Front of House, Event Coordinating and/or Festival Management preferred.
-Knowledge of all facets of Front of House Theatre/Venue Management.
-Ability to lead staff, volunteers and patrons through emergency situations rationally and calmly.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
-Exceptional attention to detail.
-Ability to research and summarize findings for different projects and products.
-Exceptional computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel and Power Point.
-Available to work a flexible schedule, including evening, weekend and Holiday hours.
-Flexible and able to direct multiple teams of staff.
-Excel in working in team environment.
-Be able to think on your feet to resolve situations.
-Independent problem solving and multitasking skills in a fast-paced, high energy, artistic environment.
-Be self-motivated and be able to successfully execute responsibilities independently.
-Ability to stand for long periods without sitting or leaning
-Ability to work in various weather conditions and noise levels.
-Possess the ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms, work under variable temperatures and noise levels.
-Willing to work long hours in a fast paced environment.
-Become Basset Certified within 30 days of employment.
-Become Food Management Certification within 30 days of employment.
-Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly.
-Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Due to frequent and necessary interaction with members of the general public, performers, fellow employees and other individuals, successful candidates for employment are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and boosted before they begin work and will be required to provide proof of vaccination.  “Fully vaccinated” as defined by the CDC means that at least 14 days have passed following receipt of the final dose of an FDA authorized Covid-19 vaccine. Additionally, Covid-19 boosters are required for eligible employees.
