Position Reports To: House Manager

 

Position Purpose and Objectives

Under direct supervision of the Front of House Manager, the Assistant House Manager is responsible for supporting the smooth operation of the Theatre House, typically both the lobby and audience seating area, during the run of each performance. Key duties include, but are not limited to: Leading Usher staff with daily assignments, assisting in orienting and training all Ushers; coordinating  with the Director of Operations, Stage Manager, Box Office Manager, and Restaurant Managers to assure timely seating of patrons; adjusting the temperature to ensure the comfortability of the theatre patrons and actors; and maintaining and managing playbills, playbill stuffers, and poster signage as needed.

 

Specific Job Responsibilities

●        Support House Manager with supervision of the Usher Team; assist with normal Usher duties

●        Assist in the creation and implementation of Front of House Policies and procedures as needed (e.g., fire evacuation plan and other trainings)

●        Be available to patrons for customer service-related issues

●        Supervise Ushers and theatre for the duration of each show/shift

●        When House Manager Not Present:

o   Maintain a comfortable theatre space; adjust thermostats, fans, chiller system, & boiler unit as needed

o   Communicate with the Stage Management team regarding playbill stuffers and poster signage

o   Communicate with Usher and Stage Management teams via radio during shows

o   Encourage effective time management with the Ushers and patrons to ensure the shows start on time; flash lobby lights as needed

o   Ensure the safety of the theatre and its patrons by following and communicating proper work safety, especially emergency procedures

o   Submit daily Front of House Report

o   Oversee and direct the cleaning of lobby and theatre areas after each show

o   Close and lock-up the building as needed

o   Schedule Usher Team weekly based on their availability

Implementing theatre policies.
Experience and Knowledge Required

●        1-2 years customer service experience

●        Interest in theatre and musical theatre

●        Ability to work afternoons and evenings Wednesday through Sunday

●        Ability to work holidays-Required Holidays: Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day

●        Ability to lift 50-70 lbs.

●        First Aid/CPR Certificate preferred

●        Reliable personal transportation required
