Sound Designer

The Young People’s Theatre of Chicago seeks a Sound Designer for upcoming production, Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are In A Play!”

YPT is the premiere TYA company at the heart of Lincoln Park, based-in the Greenhouse Theatre Center. The company is currently entering its fourth season of operations. Elephant and Piggie’s “We’re in a Play!” is a delightful 60 min. musical for all ages with a cast of 5 professional actors. It will be presented in the Downstairs Mainstage (195 seats) at the Greenhouse Theatre.

All actors will wear microphones. YPT / Greenhouse owns all equipment in-house. The show will be produced with tracks provided by MTI. Responsibilities include designing sound fx cues (relatively few – most sounds provided with tracks), setting up microphones (house sound system in place), programming levels in tech, etc…

SCHEDULE

Rehearsals run Aug 4 – Aug 22, 9:30am-3:00pm  (Designer Run on Aug 21 or 22)

Tech runs Sept 7 – Sept 12, 9:30am-3:00pm

Note the atypical two-week break between rehearsals and tech dates. 

PAY

A flat fee of $1,200 on a 1099 contract, non-inclusive of sound budget.
