Improv-Based Theater & Education Organization
The Revival is seeking an experienced, dynamic Director to helm the upcoming world-premiere production of Ben Franklin: American Badass, a sharp, irreverent, and high-energy full-length play with music that reimagines America’s most eccentric founding father through a modern comedic lens. From the minds of Ed Furman (Rod Blagojevich Superstar) and David Pompeii (The Daily Show, Key & Peele).
About the Project:
You know him as a writer, inventor, and statesman. But did you know Ben Franklin was also a street-fightin’, rebel-rousin’, love makin’ machine? Join our most colorful Founding Father for a (somewhat) historically accurate adventure as he drives the British out of Philadelphia and clears the way for the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It’s 1776 meets 1976. It’s a comedy/action/almost musical good time! It’s Ben Franklin: American Badass.
Tone: Quirky, comedic, campy, bright tones. Set in the 1770’s with the look and feel of the 1970’s. Funk music (with a touch of harpsichord). Though not 100% accurate, based on historical truths/historically referential.
