Technical Director

Clownshow is urgently seeking a Technical Director for their upcoming production of Charles Dickens Begrudgingly Performs ‘A Christmas Carol’ Again which will perform at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont, from Dec 4 – 28. (If you know Theater Wit, we’ll be in “Theater One”)

Plan for and execute load-in of set. Mostly the assembly and light finishing in place of a small raised platform stage and proscenium. Also, the light rigging of decorative curtains and oversized 5×7 framed pictures (more cumbersome than heavy) as well as masking. Some light carpentry and creative problem solving sure to be added to the list. Stay in communication through tech and previews to address issues or opportunities if they arise. Lead team for strike and load-out of scenic elements. Budget available for over-hire for load-in and strike.

SCHEDULE
Prep Scenic for Load-In:
Monday, November 24 (or before).

Load-in (scenic):
Tuesday, November 25: Load in, assembly of platform and proscenium. Begin rigging of curtains and portraits.
Saturday, November 29: Finish rigging, hang masking. Begin any other projects. (Set dressing/decor begins)
Sunday, November 30: Finish scenic install. (Set dressing complete)

Monday, Dec 1: Tech 11am – 5pm, Designers time in space in evening. *check-in for end of day production meeting for any notes.
Tuesday, Dec 2: Tech 12 – 4, 6 – 10pm. Space available in AM, dinner break, after 10pm for any work notes. Check in at end of day production meeting for any new notes.
Wed, Dec 3: Afternoon rehearsal, evening final dress.
Thu-Sat, Dec 4-6: Previews
Sun, Dec 7 at 7pm: Opening.

Sun, Dec 28, Closing Matinee. Strike begins at 5pm. Target out of space, 11pm.
