Website After School Matters/Senn Arts Music Theatre Workshop
Senn Arts Music Theatre Workshop is a youth-driven ensemble in partnership with After School Matters that produces musical showcases through ensemble-building, artistic process, and performance. In addition, youth artists collaborate with and learn from theatre professionals and experience live theatre. SAMTW provides a holistic approach to learning about musical theatre performance and production with a different theatre showcase focus for each session: Fall – Straight Play, Spring – Musical Theatre Production.
This spring we are presenting the musical, Urinetown.
Technical Director: The SAMTW Technical Director is responsible for teen recruitment and instruction of the technical design and execution of the spring program production. Duties include:
- Assist with Interviewing and hiring teen applicants for spring musical theatre program crew/tech positions
- Instruction and supervision of show design and construction including: costume, set, sound (including body mics), lighting, and props through collaborating with the Stage Directors and Music Director
- Collaborate with Stage Directors and Music Director on instruction, rehearsal, and production vision
- Supervise load-in, tech, strike, and load-out of show
- Liaise with on-site technical personnel regarding use of equipment
- Chaperone field trips
Experience:
- Background in working with teens in a camp or educational setting preferred
- Experience with professional and educational theatrical technical design necessary for the Technical Director position
- Education/degrees in arts education, theatre, or design preferred
Program Hours: Monday-Thursday 3:45pm-6pm January 26-May 11
Performances: May 6 & 7 at 6pm and May 8 at 3:30pm
