“We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that [they are] someone today.” – Stacia Tauscher
Here at the Young People’s Theatre of Chicago, we believe that young artists should be seen as the professionals they are TODAY, and have the opportunity to train as such. Our classes and camps provide a supportive environment where performers can hone their skills alongside industry professionals. Campers ages 11+ will participate in our YPT School’s-Out Conservatory while campers ages 6-10 will participate in our Summer Storylites.
YPT School’s-Out Conservatory
The YPT School’s Out Conservatory is an advanced program for students aged 11+ looking to take their performance skills to the next level. Conservatory members will explore daily acting, singing, and dancing masterclasses before applying their elevated skills to a fully produced show in YPT’s MainStage Theatre. This year’s production: HADESTOWN.
DATES: June 29th – July 24th, Monday – Friday from 9:30am to 4:00pm. Final performances take place on July 23rd and 24th for the general public.
In order to ensure personalized attention and growth in our programs, the YPT School’s-Out Conservatory will accept no more than 15-20 campers.
ADDITIONAL INFO: Once students have registered, they will receive an email with details regarding the audition process. All students must submit an audition self-tape regardless of their desired role. Auditions are part of the educational process of putting on a production from beginning to end. All students are guaranteed to perform.
