The Village Theater is producing the Chicago premiere of Boy My Greatness by Zoe Senese-Grossberg directed by Emily Newmark. Applications for assistant director are now open!
Reports To: Director
Overview:
The Assistant Director supports the Director during rehearsals and the production process, helping ensure the artistic vision of the show is effectively carried out in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Attend all rehearsals and assist with rehearsal management
- Attend tech, previews, opening night, understudy run, and strike
- Take occasional blocking notes
- Support actors and communicate director’s notes to them
- Collaborate with the Stage Manager and production team to communicate director’s notes
- Lead understudy rehearsals
Qualifications:
- Interest or experience in directing, acting, or theater production
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
Dates:
- Rehearsals begin mid/late September
- Tech Nov 5th-9th
- Previews Nov 11th and 12th
- Performances Nov 13th- Nov 23rd
- Strike tbd
