Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre

Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre is seeking early career directors or playwrights to serve as Assistant Directors for the 3rd annual Gloria Bond Clunie Playwright’s Festival. All events will take place at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center (927 Noyes St). The mission of Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre is to present work that centers the Black American experience and explore stories of the African Diaspora. Artists of all races, ethnicities, sizes, religions, sexualities, and genders will be considered.

This festival will consist of two weekends:

July 10-12th: Play workshopping with directors and actors, mentor meeting, and writing time for playwrights. Please note that Assistant Directors would not begin work until midday Saturday the 11th.
July 17-19th: Rehearsal with actors and a director, culminating in a public reading on either Saturday or Sunday. Then two short-form one act play readings will take place on Saturday evening and one full length play reading on Sunday afternoon. Artists are not required to attend the other performances, but highly encouraged to. We are building a supportive community of theatre artists. Each one, support one.
Exact rehearsal scheduling will be up to the director, but below is the time available for rehearsals/performance.
Fridays: 6PM-9PM
Saturdays: 10AM-9PM
Sundays: 10AM-5PM

ADs will work with their director to take notes, give artistic feedback, assist in tracking script changes, assist in scheduling, and read stage directions for the performance.

Assistant Directors will receive a stipend of $50. Housing and transportation is not provided.
