Assistant Director / Assistant Music Director for GREASE – School Version

Redline Theatre Company is seeking an Assistant Director / Assistant Music Director (AMD/AD) for our summer production of Grease: School Version. This role is ideal for a collaborative, well-rounded artist who is passionate about working with young performers and helping them grow both musically and theatrically. You do not need to be both a Director and Music Director to apply. Based on your skills, you can focus on one or both roles.

The AD/AMD will play an active part in rehearsals by reviewing and running blocking and music practice after it is first taught by the Director and Music Director.

Time Commitment:

•    Select Rehearsals: June 9-July 17 from 5:30-8:30 PM *(this is the full rehearsal schedule, not called to all rehearsals)

•    Tech Rehearsals: July 20–24, 2026 (Monday–Friday) 5:30–9:00 PM

•    Performances: July 25–26, 2026 (call times TBA)

Location: Noonan Elementary Academy (19131 Henry Drive, Mokena, IL 60448)

Qualifications:

•    Must have reliable transportation to and from the rehearsal location (Required, about 45 min drive from Downtown Chicago)

•    Comfortable leading small groups and working independently in rehearsal (Required)

•    Ability to diagnose and fix musical OR blocking issues efficiently (Required)

•    Singing experience with a solid understanding of vocal technique (Preferred)

•    Experience working with young performers (Preferred)

•    Piano skills, including the ability to play individual vocal lines (Preferred)

Responsibilities:

•    Reinforce notes from the Director and Music Director

•    Help run scenes and line review during rotation-based work

•    Identify and correct musical inaccuracies or challenges

•    Play and check individual vocal parts/ sectionals on piano* (preferred, not required)

•    Assist in cleaning and maintaining blocking and choreography

•    Support rehearsal management, including transitions and organization

•    Lead occasional games or activities to maintain engagement and ensemble-building

•    Collaborate closely with the Director and Music Director
