Music of the Baroque is a dynamic orchestra and chorus presenting up to 30 live concerts and events every season, including its acclaimed concert series performances of works from the 18th century and before, and special events such as The Chicago Water Music and our annual gala, A Musical Feast.

Our organization is greatly loved by audiences in Chicago and beyond and has seen considerable growth in recent years. We are about to embark on a new strategic plan leading up to our 60th anniversary in 2030, and to take us there we require a colleague who is highly skilled in the fields of concerts and event production. You will be a self-starter, clear thinker, and extremely organized person with lots of energy and initiative. You will be joining a highly motivated team that has moved the organization forward significantly in recent years and is ready to take Music of the Baroque into its next chapter.

Key duties and responsibilities: 

  • Production & Event Management: Plan and execute all production phases for rehearsals, concerts, tours, and events. Supervise all rehearsals and act as assistant stage manager at concerts. Maintain excellent venue relations.
  • Crew & Logistics: Recruit, train, and schedule stage and technical personnel; actively oversee equipment transport and truck rentals; and organize & maintain equipment inventory.
  • Technical Vendor Liaison: Work with external contractors and venues to ensure audio, lighting, and staging setups meet operational standards.
  • Administration: Support production budget management and visa application process.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean, orderly workspace that strictly adheres to relevant state laws, safety regulations, and compliance guidelines.
  • Team Collaboration: Provide cross-departmental support for special events and execute additional operational tasks as needed.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in music or arts administration, with 3+ years of production experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of classical music and the ability to work effectively with musicians, conductors, and artists as well as technical vendors and stage crew
  • Experience managing logistics; additional experience stage managing preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strong commitment to accuracy and continuous process improvement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant production software
  • Willingness to work flexible hours in various locations, including weekends and evenings
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, drive vehicles, and work in physically demanding environments

Compensation & Benefits: 

  • $55,000 – $65,000 annual salary range
  • Generous paid vacation days, sick days, and personal days in addition to 11 paid holidays
