inc. is a new play incubator that strategically pairs 6 early career Chicago directors with 6 budding Chicago playwrights to develop a new script over a dedicated 4 month process. During the process, the cohort participates in various professional development workshops led in collaboration with Chicago storefront leaders. Inc. culminates in a 2 week festival that is presented live to audiences.
Compensation: Each playwright, dramaturg, and director will receive a stipend of $100 for participation of inc. , as well as the opportunity to participate in 5 professional development workshops which will provide services such as resume and website reviews, a complimentary set of new headshots, and more.

No prior experience with New Work development is required for this program.
Inc. is a co-production between Pocket Theatre and Theatre L’Acadie. The program will begin in August 2026, with a public presentation of the work in December 2026.Submissions are due by June 29th, midnight CST.
Eligibility:
– cannot be a past participant of inc. or Pocket Playfest
– cannot currently be enrolled in college/academic institution.
– you are welcome to submit a second application for one other role.
