Adams Theatre Company is a New Jersey 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization that was founded in 2020. Every summer we produce outdoor musicals featuring young talent, both onstage and behind the table. Through this, we aim to engage with the community, foster young voices, and create opportunities for accessible storytelling. We see our spaces as creative laboratories for young artists to explore their creativity and believe that everyone should get the opportunity to work in production roles, regardless of their age or identity.
As we are in our fifth year, we are expanding and making our Chicago debut! We hope to expand opportunities to playwrights through our “New Year, New Works” festival this coming January 2026. Additionally, we plan to expand our season to include a second summer outdoor musical in our new city.
“New Year, New Works” will take place on January 9 and 10 at Theater Wit (1229 W Belmont). We are looking for 5-7 new plays (or other creative works) to be presented over the course of two performance days. We encourage submissions of plays that feature young voices. If selected, your play will receive a director, casts, and two rehearsal days leading up to a staged reading of the production.
If you are interested in submitting for the festival, please submit using the attached form by November 10. You will be notified regardless on November 17th if your play has been selected. Rough drafts are expected by December 1st so we can begin casting immediately. Any final drafts due on December 15 so our team has ample time to prepare for rehearsals beginning January 4.
