Volunteer Treasurer for Artemisia Theatre

Are you passionate about feminist storytelling, love spreadsheets and theatre, and want to make an impact in Chicago’s arts scene? Artemisia Theatre is seeking a volunteer Treasurer to join our Artistic Leadership Coalition (ALC), our version of a collaborative, creative board, and help steward the financial health of our mission-driven, intersectional feminist theatre company.

About the Role
The Treasurer plays a vital role in ensuring Artemisia remains fiscally responsible and sustainable as we grow. This is a volunteer board position (part of the ALC) for someone who wants to use their financial skills to support bold new voices in theatre.

Responsibilities include:
Creating annual and project-based budgets in collaboration with the ALC
Tracking actuals and reporting budget updates to the team
Assisting in grant writing and reporting with clear financial breakdowns
Reviewing project proposals through a financial lens for feasibility
Working with the ALC  and Managing Director to ensure artist payments are made and documented
Supporting fundraising and donor stewardship efforts when needed
Reconciling bank statements and ensuring proper financial documentation

We’re looking for someone who:
Has experience with bookkeeping, accounting, budgeting, or nonprofit finance
Is organized, communicative, and excited to be part of a collaborative board
Believes in the power of feminist, inclusive, and intersectional storytelling
Wants to join a welcoming, artist-led community

This is an amazing opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit leadership, feminist advocacy, and theatre. Prior board experience is not required — just a willingness to learn and a passion for our mission.
