The Aurora Civic Center Authority (ACCA), an innovative organization located on the Fox River in the heart of historic Aurora, Illinois (one hour from downtown Chicago), is seeking a Welder/Fabricator.  The organization operates three venues: the 6,000-person RiverEdge Park, the 1,843-seat landmark Paramount Theatre, and the 173-seat Copley Theatre.  ACCA produces and presents over 300 performances each year, including star-studded touring productions and a self-produced Broadway Series of musicals, which has amassed over 41,000 series subscribers in eight seasons and is the second-largest musical theatre subscription based in the United States.  Coming in summer 2019:  The John C. Dunham Aurora Arts Center, which includes Paramount School of the Arts, rehearsal spaces, and guest artist apartments.


The ideal candidate possesses experience in a commercial Scene Shop setting.  Experience MIG welding mild steel and aluminum.  They need to be able to work at a fast accurate pace and be able to adapt to changes quickly.

DEPARTMENT – Production

DIRECT REPORTING – Broadway Series Technical Director

WORKS CLOSELY WITH – Broadway Assistant Technical Director and Shop Foreman

POSITION STATUS & SCHEDULE – Generally 8-9 hour days Monday-Friday; extended hours during tech for Broadway Series productions and on presented event days; some weekends, evenings and holidays


COMPENSATION – Based on experience, min. $21/hr

HIRE DATE – Early June

POSITION SUMMARY – Seeking a motivated individual to tackle the rigorous task of welding the frame work on our extensive and ambitious scenic elements.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES – Predominately prepping metal and welding frames

·         MIG Welding Mild Steel required, ability to MIG weld Aluminum a plus



·         Basic Machining

·         Comfortable with a plasma cutter

·         Pipe Bending

·         Working knowledge of an iron worker or similar press/punch
