The Aurora Civic Center Authority (ACCA), an innovative organization located on Stolp Island in the Fox River in the heart of the richly diverse community of historic Aurora, Illinois (one hour from downtown Chicago), is seeking a Development Assistant. ACCA is the parent organization, which also includes a 501(c)3 arm under the name of Paramount Arts Centre, Inc. It operates three performance venues: the 6,000-person RiverEdge Park, the 1,843-seat landmark Paramount Theatre, and the 165-seat, newly renovated Copley Theatre. ACCA produces and presents over 300 performances each year, including star-studded touring productions, a self-produced Broadway Series of musicals and the self-produced Bold Series for an annual audience of 350,000 patrons from over 250 communities. ACCA proudly operates the Paramount School of the Arts in the new John C. Dunham Aurora Arts Center, right next door to Paramount Theatre in downtown Aurora. Paramount Theatre also hosts free community events, $1 Classic Movie Mondays and its opulent interiors provide a spectacular backdrop for private functions such as wedding receptions or corporate galas. Across the street from Paramount Theatre are the gorgeous Meyer Ballrooms which play host to multiple wedding receptions and rental events throughout the year.

POSITION STATUS & SCHEDULE – Position is part-time hourly with regular evening and weekend hours required.

COMPENSATION – starting at $18/hour

HIRE DATE – Immediate

POSITION SUMMARY – The Development Assistant is responsible for a broad variety of administrative tasks pertaining to fundraising and sponsorship. The Assistant collaborates with members of the Development team on day-to-day fundraising projects from making first-time donor calls to assisting at in-person special events. The position exercises good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative and organizational skills, and will be tasked to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The Assistant will work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to meet deadlines at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer and works closely with the entire fundraising team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES –

·         Provide key administrative support for the CDO and Development Department staff; schedule meetings, take minutes, provide timely follow-up as needed

·         Cultivate relationships with donors, as well as potential donors, through personal interactions, first-time donor calls, thank you emails/notes, special events, and other touch points

Regular communication with current and prospective donors to assist with donor benefits (i.e. playbill recognition, rsvp’s to donor events, premium guest experience, parking/valet)
Create and update materials to support Development Department staff as needed including: conduct research, create donor bios, various briefing materials and presentations
Update donor information within the Development databases (Bloomerang and Audience View)
Assist with NY trip bookings, vendors, mailings, filing and special projects and recognition events
·         Meet and host donors while they are attending shows at Paramount Theatre, Copley Theatre, RiverEdge Park, and the Paramount School of the Arts

Work closely across departments to play a role in overall fundraising efforts
Work with CDO and Development Staff to coordinate and handle requests as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS and ABILITIES –

·         Strong written and oral communication skills that are effective with a broad range of audience groups

·         Strong computer skills; ability to learn and use donor database software platforms

·         Detail-oriented, highly organized; able to set and meet goals and deadlines

·         Comfortable with initiating contact with current donors, and is friendly and outgoing

·         Professional attitude; team player; able to collaborate with all colleagues throughout the organization and external partners

·         Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Due to frequent and necessary interaction with members of the general public, performers, fellow employees and other individuals, successful candidates for employment are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before they begin work and will be required to provide proof of vaccination.  “Fully vaccinated” as defined by the CDC means that at least 14 days have passed following receipt of the final dose of an FDA authorized Covid-19 vaccine.
