Overview

The Aurora Civic Center Authority (ACCA), an innovative organization located on the Fox River in the heart of historic Aurora, Illinois (one hour from downtown Chicago),  is seeking teaching artists for the inaugural summer at The Paramount School of the Arts. The organization operates three venues: the 6,000-person RiverEdge Park, the 1,843-seat landmark Paramount Theatre and the 173-seat Copley Theatre. ACCA produces and presents over 300 performances each year, including star-studded touring productions and a self-produced Broadway Series of musicals, which has amassed over 40,000 series subscribers in seven seasons!  Coming this summer in 2019: The John C. Dunham Aurora Arts Center, which includes Paramount School of the Arts, new rehearsal space and guest artist apartments.

The newly renovated, state-of-the art facility will include over 20 private studios, large classroom spaces, a dance studio and the brand new Studio Theatre, a flexible performance space which doubles as a dance studio and classroom.

 

The Paramount School of the Arts will be home to over 40 summer camps teaching all aspects of the performing arts including acting, music and dance.

 

Theatre: Beginning Improv, Acting Intensive, Cosplay, Theatre Exploration, Creative Dramatics, Page to Stage

 

Dance: Jazz & Contemporary, Pre-Pointe & Ballet, Choreography, Broadway, Advanced Broadway/Tap, Pre-Ballet & Tap, Beginning Ballet, Trolls Dance Party, Beginning and Intermediate Hip Hop

 

Music: Songwriting, Piano Camp, Beginning Guitar, Beginning Ukulele, Strings Camps, Vocal Performance, Rap & Rhyming

We are seeking to employ teaching artists in all areas of the arts. A teaching certification is not required, though teaching experience is preferred.

 

Teaching Artists interested in teaching one or more of our week-long summer camps should be available for entire weeks at a time. Camps typically run from 9am-1pm, 1pm-5pm, or 10am-3pm. Camps begin June 3 and are a week long, Monday through Friday. (Specific availability requirements vary depending on the camp.) Interested applicants should also be available from 9am to 5pm on either May 11th or 15th, 2019 for mandatory staff training. Priority will be given to applicants who express an interest and availability in teaching more than one week of camp or returning in the Fall for daytime or evening classes.
