Marketing Manager

Reporting to the Artistic Director, the Marketing Manager will lead marketing and promotion efforts including strategy, email campaigns, website management, postering, and will be an advocate for Avalanche Theatre’s mission of fostering the development of new plays and playwrights in Chicago.

The Marketing Manager will work closely with the Artistic Director and Social Media Manager to plan a marketing strategy and calendar, create promotional materials, and coordinate campaigns to help Avalanche’s programs reach wider audiences. The Marketing Manager will also work in collaboration with the Development department, reporting to the Executive Director, to assist in promoting fundraising efforts.

A successful candidate for this position will:

– Be passionate about the development and success of new plays by Chicago playwrights

– Demonstrate a strong understanding of theatre marketing and a curiosity around new ways of

reaching audiences

– Develop and oversee a comprehensive marketing program, build and maintain an email

campaign calendar, oversee postering efforts, and assist with social media content

– Maintain the Avalanche website with timely updates

– Oversee Avalanche brand consistency across all channels

– Coordinate with freelance artists (e.g. photographers for productions and events)

– Build genuine relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, knowing how to draw people

in and engage them in Avalanche’s work

– Provide leadership and support for ensemble and company members in marketing activities,

including social media campaigns and postering

– Be an open communicator and active collaborator

– Be available to attend one monthly leadership meeting

Time commitment:

– 5-10 hours per month

Pay range:

– Avalanche Theatre is a volunteer-led organization. The majority of our resources go toward

paying artists and securing performance space.
