About the Show
Backyard Theatre Company is seeking a Stage Manager for our upcoming production of CORPUS, a new play premiering this fall. CORPUS is an original work exploring art, body, and transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and run all rehearsals (including tech and performances)
- Record blocking, line notes, and rehearsal reports
- Communicate daily notes and updates to the production team
- Maintain order and flow in rehearsal rooms and backstage during performances
- Call cues during tech and performances (lights, sound, projections, etc.)
- Serve as the central hub between director, cast, designers, and venue staff
Commitment & Schedule
- Rehearsals: October 1 – October 26, 2025 (weekday evenings and weekend daytime rehearsals in Chicago)
- Tech: October 27 – November 6, 2025 at Greenhouse Theater Center’s Up-Studio
- Performances: November 7 – December 3, 2025 (weekend performances, Thursday–Sunday)
- Production meetings: weekly (flexible virtual/in-person format)
Stipend: $450
Qualifications
- Previous stage management experience in theatre preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to handle high-pressure moments calmly and efficiently
- Collaborative spirit and willingness to support a small, growing company
