Broadway In Chicago is seeking enthusiastic, customer-focused individuals to join our Front of House team as part-time Ushers at our downtown theatrical venues.
Ushers play an essential role in creating an outstanding guest experience by welcoming patrons, scanning tickets, assisting guests to their seats, answering questions, maintaining a safe environment, and providing exceptional customer service before, during, and after performances. Ushers also assist with accessibility services, crowd management, and emergency procedures as needed.
This is a part-time position that requires a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, Wednesday afternoons, and holidays.
We are currently hiring in preparation for our busy holiday season. Successful candidates must be available to work from Thanksgiving week through the end of the calendar year, as this is our busiest performance period. Following the holiday season, employees who successfully complete this initial period will transition into the regular scheduling rotation based on operational needs and employee availability.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Welcome patrons and politely direct them to their seats.
- Distribute programs and provide general assistance to guests.
- Scan tickets and assist with basic ticketing questions and troubleshooting.
- Complete pre-show preparations to ensure the theatre is ready for patrons.
- Remain at assigned post throughout the performance.
- Provide outstanding customer service while helping to maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment.
Basic Qualifications:
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stand for up to four hours without sitting.
- Ability to frequently ascend and descend stairs throughout a shift.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, Wednesday afternoons, and holidays.
Benefits Include –
1 hour of pay in lieu of paid time off for every 40 hours worked, up to 40 hours in a 12-month period.
Interviews begin the week of Aug 17th, Orientation the week of Sep 21st, Training Shifts the week of Sep 28th through Nov 1st.
