The stage door position is responsible for acting as the first point of contact for anyone seeking entry into the restricted portions of the theatre. Interpersonal skills are essential for navigating the line between welcoming show staff and vendors while also enforcing building policies and turning away anyone without proper credentials. As the person responsible for opening/closing the building, this part-time position requires a flexible work schedule and the ability to arrive early/stay late as needs dictate. Weekday, evening and weekend shifts are available; applicants with evening and weekend availability will be given priority.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Stage Door attendants are required to maintain strict access control at stage door by positively confirming everyone who enters the building belongs on site at the time of their arrival and following up with an appropriate supervisor for anyone lacking proper credentials to enter.
- Opening the building for show staff ahead of all scheduled activity in the building and closing the building at the end of the day. This requires traversing the building to lock/unlock doors daily and means that shift start & end times can be subject to change on short notice to accommodate last minute show needs.
- Enforcement of all building policies
- Accepting and logging all incoming packages to the building and providing access for the drop off of large deliveries. Necessitating the ability to occasionally lift up to 25lbs.
- Reception of all incoming calls to the theatre; resolving patron inquiries when possible or forwarding the call to the appropriate department when necessary.
- Acting as a communication hub between departments and show staff by relaying information via phone and radio communication on site. This includes the placement of any emergency calls that may be necessary.
- Practicing conflict resolution/customer service before passing concerned staff/vendors/patrons to an appropriate supervisor.
- Maintaining daily reports for all activity taking place at the building.
Basic qualifications for this position include:
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- Customer Service experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to take and give direction
- Detail oriented
- Responsible and able to work independently
