Chicago Artisan Market is seeking a dependable, highly organized Weekend Event Operations Manager to help oversee our Day of Market Operations throughout the Chicagoland area.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced event professional, production manager, stage manager, venue manager, hospitality professional, operations coordinator, or other highly organized individual seeking meaningful part-time work.

This position works approximately 14 weekends per year and plays a key role in delivering successful events featuring over 100 independent artists, makers, food vendors, and small businesses.

Schedule
Approximately 14 weekends per year
Primarily Saturdays and Sundays
Typical hours are approximately 6:00 AM through 5:00 PM
Additional paid planning meetings as needed
Reliable weekend availability is required

Locations
Events take place throughout the Chicagoland area, including:

Chicago (Ravenswood and Fulton Market)
Oak Brook
Naperville
Northbrook
Winnetka
Reliable transportation is required.

Responsibilities
Lead event setup and breakdown
Coordinate event staff and student workers
Manage vendor check-in and placement
Troubleshoot operational issues throughout the event
Communicate with vendors, venue management, security personnel, and event staff
Ensure event policies, safety standards, and operational procedures are followed
Monitor event appearance and customer experience
Assist with load-in and load-out logistics
Serve as a key representative of Chicago Artisan Market

Qualifications
Strong organizational and communication skills
Excellent problem-solving ability
Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
Experience managing people, logistics, events, hospitality operations, productions, or similar responsibilities
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Comfortable interacting with vendors, customers, and staff throughout the day

Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on role and is not a desk position.

Candidates must be able to:

Stand and walk for extended periods
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Lift and move up to 40 pounds when necessary
Walk significant distances throughout the event site
Market days frequently involve 20,000–30,000 steps and 10–12 hours on your feet.

Compensation
$25–$30 per hour, based on experience
Paid planning meetings and training
Opportunity for increased responsibilities & pay over time
