Stage Manager for “Peter Pan”

Chicago Kids Company is Chicago’s oldest children’s theater company now celebrating their 32nd Season! Their mission is to enrich the lives of the young children of Chicago with their classic fairy tale productions, theater classes, and Summer Theater Camps.  Their shows and educational programs introduce children ages 2 to 17 to the magic of live theater, and inspire children to laugh, create, and dream.

Job Summary
Chicago Kids Company seeks a professional Stage Manager to SM and run the sound board for their TYA production of “Peter Pan” at the Beverly Arts Center-(BAC) (2047 W. 111th St., Chicago, IL).  Performances are held on weekdays mornings at 10:30am and select Saturdays at 11:00am.  “Peter Pan” is a one-hour musical that features adult professional actors.
·      Rehearsals are Feb. 24 thru March 6 at Chicago Kids Company
·      Tech Rehearsals are March 10 and 11 at the BAC
·      “Peter Pan” runs at the BAC from March 12 through August 8.

Responsibilities
·      Take cast attendance during tech week rehearsals and performances.
·      Create and maintain an accurate prompt book, which includes all blocking, cues, and notes for the performance of the show.
·      Create and maintain both sound and light cue books
·      Distribute and explain job descriptions and scene changes to stage crew members
·      Maintain a first aid kit and a stage manager’s kit
·      During the run of the production, check in all cast & crew members by 30 minutes before each performance, and call absentees if necessary.
·      Help with seating the audience during ½ hour.
·      Generate daily show reports after each performance
·      Maintain the quality of the production
Qualifications

We are looking for someone who loves children’s theater!  We seek a bright, positive, friendly individual who is very detail oriented.  Having your own car is a must.  Having SM and/or sound experience is preferred but not mandatory, we are willing to train.

Compensation

This is a part-time position.  CKC produces four full-scale productions at the BAC each season.  The ideal candidate will be the SM and sound board OP for “Peter Pan”—and continue for all productions at the BAC. Hourly rate is $18/hour.  Chicago Kids Company’s Office is located at 4124 N Nashville Ave., Chicago, IL. 60634 (This is the address for rehearsals only)
