Chicago Shakespeare Theater seeks s full-time Casting Assistant to support the work of CST’s Casting Director in the casting and hiring of actors for all of the Theater’s productions, workshops, readings, and other artistic programs.
This position will organize and coordinate the administrative work of the casting office, from creating and organizing audition materials to scheduling auditions and organizing actor files and databases. They will also provide an extensive and ongoing knowledge of Chicagoland actors and their suitability for roles across many genres (including Shakespeare, musical theater, and contemporary theater) by attending productions, readings, and showcases. The position will oversee the casting and hiring of all acting interns and understudies, as well as oversee the casting office internship program and manage the operations and enrollment for the First Folio education program.
Candidates should have experience in the Chicago theater field, with a working knowledge of the Chicago acting community strongly preferred, whether through casting or another field .They must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate across all areas of the organization. This is a position with room for growth. Salary dependent upon experience. This position is NOT for artists also pursuing another career (i.e. acting, directing).
