Concessioner

The Concessioner is responsible for maintaining operations of lobby concession stands and assisting customers. This position helps set the standard for our patron experience and ensures the highest level of guest satisfaction in concessions.  Position reports to the House Manager.

This is a union position to be governed by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between Chicago Shakespeare Theater and IATSE Local 750.

Essential Responsibilities

Greet and serve guests at the registers; take orders and serve snacks and beverages to customers in a fast-paced environment
Handle cash and accept debit and credit cards for payments
Reconcile sales reports and registers at the end of every shift
Replenish concessions serving stations
Clean and maintain neat, orderly counters, service areas, and concessions displays
Manage inventory; assess inventory and prepare product orders as necessary
Stock and restock inventory items as necessary
Expedite resolution of patron conflicts and concerns, elevating to the House Manager as necessary
In the event of an emergency, direct patrons and staff to safety
Break down concessions areas before the end of each performance for patron egress

Qualifications

Excellent customer service instincts aligned with company mission and core values
Ability to greet all patrons with enthusiasm, warmth, and a positive, inclusive attitude as a key public-facing representative for the Theater
Must be 21 years of age or more
Must provide proof of BASSET certification or be willing to undergo BASSET certification process
Prior concessions and bar experience preferred, including Square or other POS systems
Previous experience in the hospitality industry in a professional venue
Attention to detail, especially in excellent cash handling skills and knowledge of daily sales reporting
Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities and situations which require diplomacy, tact, friendliness, poise, and firmness
Must be able to multi-task and be self-motivated, with a sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize tasks and leverage problem-solving skills
Generally proficient with computers, iPads, Square hardware, and basic office equipment
Excellent verbal communication skills
Proficient with two-way radio communication with the ability to receive and give instructions via an earpiece during performances
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

Pay & Benefits

Part time, hourly, seasonal
Rate: $17.85/hour + pooled tips
