Children’s Theatre of Winnetka (CTW) is looking for an A/V Assistant/Light Board Operator for our fall 2024 production of Disney’s Newsies.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Light Board Operator to join our technical team. This role involves working closely with the Sound and Lighting Designer to ensure seamless execution of all A/V and lighting requirements for our productions. The Light Board Operator will also play a key role in training and supervising student crew members, providing guidance on lighting, sound, and projection systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the light board during all performances, ensuring accurate and consistent lighting cues.
- Collaborate with the Sound and Lighting Designer to meet the technical needs of the production.
- Train and supervise student crew members on A/V and lighting operations, including spotlight and projection systems.
- Assist with the setup and testing of equipment and instruments prior to rehearsals and performances.
- Provide support with microphone setup and troubleshooting during shows.
- Participate in the strike and breakdown of equipment following the final performance.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in light board operation, with experience in spotlight and projection systems.
- Strong understanding of A/V equipment and lighting setups.
- Ability to train and supervise student crew members effectively.
- Knowledge of microphone setup and troubleshooting.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Key Dates:
Tech: Thursday, November 14th – Sunday, November 17th
Dress Rehearsals: Tuesday, November 19th – Wednesday, November 20th
Opening: Thursday, November 21st
Closing: Sunday, November 24th
About CTW:
Children’s Theatre of Winnetka is a premier children’s theatre program for children in grades 4th-8th grade. We have been awarded “Best Children’s Theatre” 5 years in a row in the Chicago area and suburbs. We are a non-profit organization with a dedicated parent volunteer board that produces two shows a year; November and April. Our professional staff includes our Producing Artistic Director, Aaron Umsted as well as a Choreographer, Music Director, Stage Manager, and a Sound/Lighting Designer.
