House Manager

CLOWNSHOW seeks a HOUSE MANAGER for its upcoming run of Charles Dickens Begrudgingly Performs ‘A Christmas Carol’ Again, performing at Theater Wit, 1229 W Belmont, Chicago, from Dec 4-28.

House Manager will coordinate with venue box office and house management as well as company stage management to ensure smooth operation of each performance. Our show has Charles Dickens himself as the usher stationed in the house. House Manager will take tickets and hand out programs as audience enters. House Manager will handle late seating of patrons. House Manager is responsible for maintaining clean, orderly state of the entry and seating areas — as needed before or after each performance. House Manager will assist in seating any patrons needing help getting to their seats. House Manager is the public face of the company during all performances, answering any questions patrons may have about the company or show.

Depending on availability, CLOWNSHOW might consider splitting this position between two candidates with perhaps double coverage on the busiest nights.

Required Schedule – Times listed are curtain times. Call time for HM is most likely set 1 hour before curtain. Show runs 95  to 100 minutes. Assuming up to a half-hour of clean-up following the audience exit, total hours each evening should fall between 3 and 3 1/4 hours.

Payment
This is a 1099 position. Payment is fee-based.
If only one house manager, payment is as follows:

Week One, Paid on Sun, Dec 7: $500
Week Two, Paid on Sun, Dec 14: $400
Week Three, Paid on Sun, Dec 21: $400
Week Four, Paid on Sun, Dec 28: $400

If more than one House Manager is employed, payment Dates remain as above. Fee/performance is $100.
