Production Electrician

Clownshow is urgently seeking a Production Electrician for the upcoming Charles Dickens Begrudgingly Performs ‘A Christmas Carol’ Again to be performed at Theater Wit, 1229 W Belmont, Chicago, in their “Theater One.”

Exact schedule to be determined in coordination with Producer and Lighting Designer, but the relevant dates/time are as follows:
LOAD-IN/HANG/FOCUS
We have four days around the Thanksgiving holiday to get the production loaded in and prepped for tech.
Monday, Nov 24; Tuesday, Nov 25; Saturday, Nov 29; Sun, Nov 30.
(*Electrics most likely won’t need all four days.)

TECH and PREVIEWS
Additionally, tech is afternoon and evenings on Monday, Dec 1 and Tuesday, Dec 2. Time in the am, dinner break, or after 10pm for any adjustments necessary. Beyond that, dress and previews are on Wed – Sat, Dec 3 – 6. We should plan on at least daily check-ins with designer/production team to see what if anything must be addressed as the week progresses. Opening on Sunday, Dec 7.

STRIKE
Finally, strike for the show is Sunday, Dec 28 beginning around 5pm. Target end-time is 11pm.

DUTIES
In consultation with Lighting and Sound Designers and the Producer, Production Electrician will plan for load-in and hang of electrics taking care that all necessary rental equipment, expendables, and other supplies are accounted for. PE will lead team in executing hang, cabling, and other tasks as determined by Lighting Designer. PE will, at the direction of Lighting Designer, execute any changes necessary during the week of tech and previews. PE will also lead team in striking electrics at closing.
