Position Summary
We are seeking a Lead Teaching Artist to spearhead the 2024 Light (ages 14 – 18) and the Luminaries (ages 19 – 24) Youth Ensemble. This role is ideal for an experienced youth educator and theater maker passionate about empowering young performers through structured, engaging, and socially conscious programming.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct auditions and select youth ensemble members in partnership with the Artistic Director.
Design and implement structured lesson plans and a curriculum for the summer program.
Provide mentorship, guidance, and artistic leadership to ensemble members.
Facilitate rehearsals, workshops, and ensemble development activities.
Collaborate with the Artistic Director to curate showcases and performances.
Coordinate performance logistics, including scheduling, communication, and artist preparation.
Assist in administrative duties, including program planning, documentation, and reporting.

Program Schedule & Key Dates
May 3, 10 and 17th: 10 am – noon Auditions for Light and the Luminaries 2024 at 1757 N. Kimball
May 15, 2024: Official ensemble announcement
June 15 – August 16: Summer program (Tuesdays – Saturdays, 10:30 AM – 2 PM)
July 11: Performance at Fresh Fest at Navy Pier
July 31 – Aug. 3: Performance at Kidzapalooza at Lollapalooza
September TBD: Performance at Sundays on State

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience as a youth educator, with a focus on theater and performance.
Strong experience in creating structured syllabi and lesson plans for youth programs.
Strong experience with management of day to day administrative responsibilities in conjunction with leading coursework.
A background as a theatermaker, with expertise in acting, singing, directing, or performance creation. Experience with poetry, writing, music and other mediums are welcomed as well.
Ability to inspire, mentor, and engage youth artists in an inclusive and supportive environment.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Must be available to support auditions and youth selection starting April 2024.
