Overview

Court Theatre, a department of the University of Chicago, is seeking a Wardrobe Crew member for its upcoming production of KING HEDLEY II. Dates of employment are September 6 – October 20, 2019. The position is paid on a weekly basis at the rate of $16/hour ($24 for hours over 40 within a calendar week).

 

Position Overview:
The Wardrobe Crew is responsible for assisting with daily wardrobe cleaning, prepping, and routine maintenance as well as small repairs when necessary, with the oversight of the Wardrobe Supervisor, Costume Shop Manager, and Equity Stage Manager. Executes costume presets and quick changes alongside the wardrobe supervisor. Works with Stage Management team to assist in executing scenic shifts, prop hand-offs, and performing any backstage special effects as needed. Communicates all pertinent information to the Wardrobe Supervisor promptly.

 

Qualifications:

Candidates should have a college degree or equivalent professional experience, a working knowledge of backstage theatre, strong sewing skills, and be a good collaborator. This is a physically demanding job that requires night and weekend hours.

 

Schedule:
Tech Begins: September 6
First Preview: September 12
Regular Run: September 21 – October 13
Possible Extension: October 14-20

Performance weeks are Wednesday – Sunday, with matinees on Wednesdays (10am), Saturdays (2pm), and Sundays (2pm). Additional matinees may be added on Thursdays (10am) during the regular run.
