Pay Rate: Current IATSE Head Rate of $36.10/hour, Performance Rate of $180.59/Performance, Pension,
Health and Welfare, Annuity and Vacation provided in addition to rates
Position Reports To: Managing Director
Position Purpose and Objectives
Under the broad supervision of the Managing Director the Master Electrician is responsible for overseeing
all aspects of planning and executing lighting for company productions, working with the Lighting Designer
for each production to execute their vision, and coordinating with other departments on crossover
production elements. Responsible for overseeing strikes and changeovers, managing over hire lighting
technicians, equipment maintenance and purchasing, and running the lightboard for Drury Lane Productions
and industrial events; working professionally with all production departments, attending weekly Production
Heads meetings and other meetings for the Drury Lane organization as needed.
Specific Job Responsibilities
1. Overseeing strike and changeover process for lighting department including staffing crews with
union and non-union workers, overseeing and supervising crews, hanging light plot, overseeing
focus and programming and efficiently and effectively solving problems as they arise throughout the
entire process from load in to strike.
2. Working with the lighting designer, in advance of load in, to create and secure an appropriate rental
package for each production, assuring that all distros, universes, dimmers, cable, connectors, etc.
needed are acquired so all lighting equipment will function as needed.
3. Working with other departments to assure that crossover lighting needs are completed, wiring has
been properly executed and items are functioning for all rehearsals and performances.
4. Troubleshooting problems as they arise, solving problems in the moment and proposing solutions to
resolve issues.
5. Coordinate with other department heads on inter-departmental needs of each production
6. Running lighting console for previews and each performance. Assure that an appropriate substitute
is secured for approved absences.
7. Maintain the Design Integrity of the show. Schedule daily/weekly light checks for focus, gel burn
thru, or any other issue preventing the accurate realization of the intended design.
8. Maintaining equipment during the run of the show and throughout the season, including but not
limited to cleaning and bench focus of inventory not in use, check, label, and repair cable.
9. Overseeing electrics inventory providing accurate inventories of all lighting related equipment to the
Managing Director for the Designer’s use, and working with Technical Director to order replacement
equipment as needed and plan for future equipment needs and long-term purchases.
10. Maintaining supplies, ordering supplies as necessary, and working with the Managing Director and
Technical Director to secure supplies in a timely and financially responsible manner.
11. Storing unused equipment in the appropriate place ensuring a safe environment backstage and the
ability to access equipment quickly as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities
-Supervise and lead over hire crews of 7-14 during the strike and changeover process.
-Supervise and leadup to 2 Spot Operators and Deck Electrician during technical rehearsals, previews and
production run.

2. Scheduling others to specific shifts and/or assigning their workload.
3. Training others in their department and troubleshooting their work.
4. Implementing theatre policies.
Direct Reports: Spot Operators, Deck Electrician, Overhire Union and Non-Union Crew for strike and load

Experience and Knowledge Required
● 3-5 years professional experience as a Master Electrician in a large scale producing or touring venue
expected
● 3-5 years professional experience with proven experience leading and overseeing crews required
● Literate in reading Scale Drawings and implementing those drawings in the space
● Experience with and working knowledge of Lightwright required
● Experience with and working knowledge of Vectorworks or AutoCAD preferred but not required
● Experience with overhead rigging required
● Broad background in power distribution, serial and packet-based DMX networking, analog circuits,
and ETC dimming and control systems
● Broad background in fixture and cable maintenance
● Experience in Moving Light maintenance experience, swapping gobos, replacing lamps, basic repairs
● Experience with low voltage LEDs (12-24v) and Pixel Tape
● Working knowledge of current best practices in Theatrical Electrics
● Ability to safely and efficiently use power, pneumatic, and hand tools
● Ability to lift 75 lbs. repeatedly
● Ability to work long hours and work on a flexible schedule
● Must be comfortable with heights, including climbing ladders and operating lifts
● Reliable transportation required
