Title: Casting Director

Position Reports To:  Managing Producer

Join the dynamic team of arts professionals at the Goodman Theatre!  Goodman Theatre is an artistic and community institution dedicated to the art of theater and to civic engagement in the theater arts. Goodman believes it has a responsibility to provide artists with the opportunity to explore a wide range of theatrical visions, and ensure that cultural inclusion is the fabric of the organization and fully engages in the life of our community.  Goodman is currently seeking applicants for an open position in our Casting Department.

The Casting Director oversees the casting department at the Goodman Theatre, leading and facilitating all casting efforts for productions, workshops, readings and special events, as well overseeing all relations with the acting community.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leading and facilitating all local casting for Goodman productions, including AEA Equity Principal Auditions and auditions for specific productions
Coordination of out-of-town casting for Goodman productions, serving as a liaison between the production’s director and the out-of-town casting director
Facilitating all actor correspondence, correspondence with Actor’s Equity Association (regarding auditions, casting statistics, and casting procedures)
Attending local productions, showcases, and other actor-related performance events
Overseeing all other aspects of actor relations with the Goodman’s artistic department
Required Qualifications:

BA or BFA degree in Theatre or related fields preferable
At least 3 years’ experience as a Casting Director working on theatrical productions in either a regional theatre or commercial casting office, or 5 years’ experience as a Casting Associate.
Strong leadership, management and organization skills
Exemplary interpersonal and communications skills
Experience with Microsoft Suite/Office 365, primarily Excel, Word and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications:

Directing experience in theatre, TV or film; Producing experience in the commercial or non-profit theatre; familiarity with ArtsVision, KS Limelight
