SALARY: $50,000-55,000 annually

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Communications Content Manager is a key collaborator in Goodman Theatre’s efforts to maximize storytelling tactics to promote greater awareness of its mission, productions and programs. The Communications Content Manager will oversee the creation of dynamic pieces that engage target audiences around our productions and events to support ticket sales, enhance brand recognition and promote overall institutional advancement. This position will facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to achieve cohesion in messaging across written and digital platforms. The ideal candidate is an excellent writer and is proficient in design layout; has proven success using video, audio, digital/print platforms; is highly collaborative and deadline- and detail-oriented in a fast-paced creative environment; and understands the Goodman’s stature and significance in the local and national theater communities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create/collaborate on the creation of storytelling pieces—from inception to research and development to execution and evaluation—to promote visibility of productions, programs and events; ensure end product is forward-thinking, well-produced, and on-brand and message.
- Collaborate with the Director of Communications, Director of Marketing and Director of Digital Strategy to develop strategic content campaigns; collaborate with Department Heads on special projects.
- Oversee all aspects of the creation of the Playbill for Goodman productions—including managing, assigning and/or writing content + designing Playbill print products for each of nine productions and digital products for the annual New Stages Festival and events.
- Oversee all aspects of the creation of monthly NEXT e-newsletter, edit other departments’ e-newsletters.
- Work with the Director of Digital Strategy on creation of identifying internal storytelling opportunities, including writing/editing/assigning blog, website and social media posts.
- Contribute to messaging development for ticket campaigns (visuals and written).
- Writing and editing duties, including press releases; play/project descriptive copy development; scripts for broadcast (radio + TV) commercials; select e-mail correspondence; upkeeping Goodman Editorial Style Guideline Standards.
- Manage multiple projects across departments, prioritize deadlines and workflow; oversee cost and scope; evaluate/measure success.
- Work with Creative Director and Graphic Designers to maintain the Goodman brand across all media with an eye toward quality and consistency, and on select project management.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5)+ years professional experience in a Communications field (communications, marketing, journalism, graphic design, related field, or combination of these areas)
- Deadline-oriented self-starter with strong visual, verbal and written communication with the ability to translate ideas and concepts into content
- Team-player with excellent interpersonal skills for success collaborating with artists, leadership and other departments
- Excellent interpersonal skills for success working with artists, leadership and various departments throughout the organization
- Proficiency with creative hardware and software tools for visual design, specifically the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and experience in illustration, photo illustration and photography a plus
- Knowledge of Goodman Theatre and its production history
- A working knowledge of print and digital production
- Basecamp experience a plus
- Portfolio of writing and creative samples
