OVERVIEW OF POSITION

The Manager of Corporate Partnerships and Institutional Giving reports to the Senior Director of Institutional Giving and Development Operations. Main responsibilities include: serving as a key member of the Development team and helping implement the overall fundraising plan for the department.  This position interfaces with Goodman Trustees, executive leaders, corporate partners, donors and prospects in order to achieve strategic fundraising goals.   They will oversee the Goodman Theatre Business Council, a dynamic group of Corporate business leaders who make mid-level gifts to support productions and programs.  In addition to annual fundraising goals, this position will collaborate on fundraising strategy by identifying prospects, soliciting and securing essential support for key Goodman fundraising events and play a key role on Goodman partnership productions to pursue sponsorships in collaboration with our non-profit partners.

 

This position is responsible for soliciting corporate gifts from a portfolio of 50-75 corporate donors and prospects. This position works closely with the Director of Development, Senior Director of Institutional Giving and Operations and members of the Development team to ensure that a diversified and growing pool of corporate prospects is being managed toward their maximum donor potential.  This position requires close collaboration with artistic, education, marketing and communications teams to develop proposals, reports, fulfill corporate partner benefits and acknowledge major gifts.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cultivate and solicit corporate contributions (including program, production and event sponsorships)
Prepare operational plans and develop and implement strategies for corporate major gifts, annual support and sponsorships totaling between $850,000 and $1,000,000 annually.
Work in collaboration with marketing colleagues to create compelling sponsorship benefits and recognition packages and partnerships
Develop creative solicitation materials and initiate donor and prospect meetings.
Identify and research prospective donors for new programs and initiatives of the theater
Write persuasive sponsorship proposals to Corporate donors and prospects, collaborating with marketing, communications, education, and artistic staff to develop and coordinate new benefits that resonate with corporate partners.
Work with the Senior Director of Institutional Giving and Operations to integrate corporate proposals into the master grants and reports calendar.
Steward corporate donors by providing formal and informal stewardship reports and by initiating phone contact and meetings.
Serve as Liaison for the Goodman Business Council
Lead, grow and execute the corporate annual giving (Corporate Connections)
Leverage special events and other recognition/benefit opportunities in a targeted manner to engage and attract new donors. Work closely with Development Events staff on donor cultivation, recognition and stewardship opportunities for corporate donors.
Maintain accurate data and files for portfolio of corporate donors and prospects. Utilize Tessitura to track donor activity through the process of cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and recognition. With the Institutional Giving team, track trends and patterns in donor attrition, renewals and upgrades.
Consistently monitor and develop a diversified and growing pool of institutional prospects (to support productions, education, new work, technology, IDEAA projects and new initiatives).
Collaborate with the Development team to create annual plans and benchmarks for Corporate, Foundation and Government area for fundraising, including strategies for achieving those benchmarks and evaluating progress.
Work with Goodman trustees to solicit and steward the corporations with which they are affiliated. Support trustees in their execution of corporate prospect cultivation and solicitation plans that will have been developed jointly.

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTIONS

3-5 years of demonstrated fundraising experience for a major non-profit with knowledge of the Chicago corporate community and a track record of working with corporate donors to secure gifts and steward relationships.
Demonstrated ability to seek, secure and manage five and six-figure corporate sponsorships for a major non-profit.
Excellent verbal communication and writing skills; strong research and organizational skills
Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and set and manage priorities
Driven to lead cross-departmental teams seeking corporate underwriting for productions and programs
Commitment to the mission and values of the Goodman Theatre
Computer literacy, specifically, Microsoft Office Suite, Tessitura and web-based applications and databases

ADDITIONAL

Goodman Theatre offers a competitive salary in the $50,000-$60,000 range and a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, paid vacation, sick leave, and 401K.
