Overview

Program—The 67th season of Theater on the Lake Summer Theater Festival will remount 6 plays from
Chicago’s most talented and innovative off-Loop theater companies, as well a robust schedule of coprogramming.
The festival is scheduled to run from June 23 to August 31, 2019, with limited
preproduction for technical staff beginning May. Performances will take place at Theater on the Lake
(2401 N Lake Shore Drive) as well as other parks in the Chicago Park District. (Schedule below)

General Description—
Candidates should be outgoing and personable, with the ability to address unexpected challenges calmly
and professionally. The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ experience working in direct
customer service in a theatre setting- Front of House or Box office experience preferred, as well as
additional experience in customer service, hospitality or similar service industry work. Excellent
customer service skills and strong attention to detail are required. A person with a passion for
improving access for people with disabilities to meet the goal of high quality experiences for all patrons
is highly desired.

House Manager will
 assist the audience with seating and other on-site accommodations as needed
 serve as on-site liaison between the box office and company management during the festival
 serve as point of contact for the festival’s Saints and volunteer ushers
 in conjunction with the Audience Services Manager, Production Manager and Managing
Director, develop and maintain best practices around the festivals accessibility needs, including
the set-up and maintenance of equipment.
 Coordinate the set up and strike of the audience lounge before and after performances
 Support the set up and strike of post-show festival programming
 Co-ordinate with the vendor’s staff regarding vehicles on site, valet issues, and other FOH
related concerns.
 Other duties as assigned

Requirements
▪ Must be a Chicago resident.
▪ Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
▪ Background check and fingerprinting required.

Compensation
$16/ hour, billed biweekly via invoice
Estimated 20-25 hours per week, with limited pre-season support starting in early June.

Schedule
The TOTL festival season is scheduled to fall between June 23 and August 31st, 2019. During weeks of
production (Week 1, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10), the House Manager must be available Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday Evenings starting at 5:30pm and Thursdays starting at 12:30pm. Schedule may vary
in other weeks.

WEEKS IN BOLD ARE SLATED FOR REMOUNTED PERFORMANCES AT TOTL. OTHER WEEKS IN THE
SEASON WILL FEATURE ONE TOURING PRODUCTION, THE TOTL: IN THE WORKS STAGED READINGS,
SINGLE PERFORMANCES, AND OTHER COMPLIMENTARY PROGRAMMING.
