IMPROV PLAYHOUSE INTERNSHIP

Desired Skills and Experience

  • ·                     Minimum one year undergraduate education or equivalent experience in arts administration, marketing,     communications, public relations, journalism, or related field
  • ·                     Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • ·                     Self-starter, multi-task oriented, and computer literate
  • ·                     Experience in sales, promotions, or media desirable
  • ·                     Website maintenance and/or e-marketing skills a plus
  • ·                     Experience in community organizations or grassroots campaigns desirable
  • ·                     Willingness to mingle with audiences and accommodate visitors
  • ·                     Soft Stage Management experience
  • ·                     Ability to work well with a diverse group of people
  • ·                     Some technical theater experience
  • ·                     Detail-oriented and organized
  • ·                     Computer proficiency, especially in Microsoft Office Suite
  • ·                     Willingness to learn and work as part of a team

Internship Responsibilities May Include

  • ·         Assist in execution of promotions, direct mail and e-marketing projects
  • ·         Update mailing lists in both Excel and Constant Contact or CRM equivalent software
  • ·         Update website through Contribute
  • ·         Update and manage Social and Rich Media presence and promotion on the Web
  • ·         Manage distribution of promotional materials
  • ·         Conduct research for press releases and special projects
  • ·         Assist the stage managers during the rehearsal and performance process of a production
  • ·         Setting up rehearsal spaces and maintaining the rehearsal environment
  • ·         Work closely with administrative and technical departments
  • ·         Opportunity to work with Scenic, Lighting, Sound, and Costume components
  • ·         Help maintain databases, calendars, and production records
  • ·         Assist on any special projects on an as-needed basis
  • ·         Assisting with House management during the run of the show
  • ·         Assist the stage managers during the rehearsal and performance process of a production
  • ·         Work directly with the Director and parents of production program to understand the overall scope of properties build and collaborate on pieces or projects appropriate for your skill level and interest
  • ·         Assist with researching, locating, building, crafting, and purchasing props
  • ·         Contribute to friendly, clean, and safe working practices in the theater
  • ·         Assist in the inventory and maintenance of props storage in our warehouse
