Properties and Scenic Artist Supervisor

The Properties and Scenic Artist Supervisor role supervises and manages MFA candidates and undergraduate employees in the implementation of stage properties and stage scenic painting for all department productions, including the summer season.

Qualifications
EDUCATION (required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in fine arts or related field
    Preferred
  • Master’s degree in fine arts, theatre, or related field

WORK EXPERIENCE (required)

  • 2 years in performing arts or related field
    Preferred
  • Formal or informal teaching experience is a plus as this position will be asked to teach 1 course per year in scenic art or properties
  • 2 years of professional or academic theatre production experience

Preferred

  • Ideal candidate has comprehensive knowledge of traditional scenic painting, texturing, and innovative painted surface treatments
  • Additional expertise in the management, construction, acquisition, and creation of props using various methods such as casting, plastics, fine carpentry, upholstery, sculpting, and props special effects is desired
  • Adherence to the established curriculum training approach as determined by the tenure-track faculty and head of scenic design is required
  • Highly thorough and dependable

Pay Rate/Range*: 45-55K
