Position: Kobotech Set Up Shift Lead at Chicago Cultural Center

POSITION SUMMARY

The Set Up Shift Lead is a dynamic and versatile live event set-up technician who collaborates with a team of highly motivated professionals to deliver exceptional public and private events at the Chicago Cultural Center. Serving as the primary point of contact for event coordinators, security, and custodial staff, the Set Up Shift Lead oversees the seamless execution of event set-up processes. Reporting to the Kobotech Production Manager and Assistant Production Manager, this role requires strong leadership, effective communication, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and efficiency.

STATUS

Regular, Part-Time, Non-Exempt

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Pre-Event Coordination:

Arrive on time in the prescribed Kobotech uniform.
Collaborate with the Kobotech Assistant Production Manager to review and communicate all event details, including floor plans, special instructions, and scheduling.
Prepare and inspect equipment prior to each event to ensure readiness and functionality.
Enforce uniform standards, ensuring all crew members are properly attired, including shirts, gloves, safety equipment and weight belts.

Event Monitoring:

Serve as the on-site point of contact between Transwestern Event Coordinator, client and set up crew, ensuring all operational needs are met and expectations are exceeded.
Schedule and document crew breaks, ensuring compliance with labor regulations and accurate timesheet reporting.
Report any late arrivals, no-shows, or crew injuries to management promptly.
Monitor, document and inform Production Manager or Assistant Production Manager of any additions or changes to the setup, such as extra equipment requests.

Post-Event Responsibilities:

Confirm times for flips, breakdown or room reset schedules with the event coordinator, ensuring minimal disruption.
Oversee the proper storage of equipment, including tables and chairs used by catering or clients.
Oversee periodic cleaning and maintenance of Chicago Cultural Center inventory as needed.
Inspect all equipment for damage before storage and report any issues to management.
Conduct a thorough visual inspection of the venue, checking for damage, collecting all Chicago Cultural Center items used during the event, and reporting any non-Chicago Cultural Center items to Transwestern Event Coordinator or building security.
Ensure all crew members accurately complete and submit timesheets.
Sign, date, and submit the Shift Lead event checklist to the Kobotech Production Manager and Assistant Production Manager.
These duties and responsibilities may evolve in collaboration with the Kobotech Production Manager and Assistant Production Manager to address future business needs.

Access to, and use of, a smart phone for email, calls and texting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Flexibility to work weekends, nights, and irregular hours as needed.
Willingness to adapt to the physical demands of moving and setting up event equipment.

COMPENSATION

 

$28 PER HOUR, 4 hour minimum for all production work.
