Job Summary
The function of the Programming and Engagement Coordinator is to serve as a member of the engagement and programming teams by assisting in the planning and coordination of performance as well as engagement events; to collaborate with engagement staff on campus and community initiatives; to sustain anti-racism, accessibility and inclusion work through programming and engagement activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Programming and Engagement

Work in collaboration with programming staff to confirm artists for the season by assisting in scheduling meetings with artists and agents, tracking artist and agent requests, assisting in the creation of contracts, and other related programming duties/artist and agent communication
Serve as a member of the core Programming and Engagement Office team, contributing to the planning and implementation of artist engagement activities
Assist in the coordination of KCPA programs that deepen relationships with youth, students, campus community, the greater Champaign/Urbana community, and seniors. Areas of focus may include special events, Youth Series performances, youth performances by Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, and student events
Establish relationships with faculty and students to further engage campus community in the planning of events at Krannert Center for Performing Arts; reaching out to departments who may have connections to themes of presented works
Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of engagement activities in light of their accomplishments and objectives, tracking attendance and demographic information
Assist with audience development through researching and contacting potential patrons/participants
Maintain the budget assigned to this position
May participate in the occasional supervision and chaperoning of minors, in connection with Krannert Center engagement activities and university affiliate programs

Programming Support

Coordinate and organize incoming artist and agent requests in preparation for programming meetings.
Assist staff in the scheduling of artist and agent meetings and in creation of meeting agendas.
Assist in preparation of artist contracts and offer letters.
Work with events staff to coordinate incoming requests from campus entities for use of space as relates to programming considerations.
Promote and represent the programs and resources of Krannert Center for Performing Arts through campus and
community activities such as information and resource fairs and events and programs hosted throughout the
community.
Research and assist in preparation of grants to support engagement, programming, and new work development
initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.
A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience at an arts and culture organization or university focused on planning, creating or implementing performing arts and/or visual arts events.
Preferred Qualifications

Degree in arts management, performing arts, humanities, or social sciences.
Experience in arts-related community engagement and public events.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must possess and be able to put into action a passion for connecting people with arts experiences.
Excellent public relations, interpersonal, teamwork, planning, organization and communication skills
Extensive knowledge of community personnel, programs, organizations, resources, and issues of public concern.
Knowledge of performing arts field and community engagement activities; cultural competency with historically marginalized groups.

Pay Rate/Range*: $50,000 to $55,000
