Lake Forest High School is seeking an APT Talent Show Technical Director.

Description: The director supervises students during regular meetings and organizes approved events throughout the year in order to meet the needs of the club. The sponsor creates, facilitates and manages students through meetings, events, activities or fundraisers.

Essential Functions:
General Duties

  • Maintains a variety of documents including attendance records for crew meetings and events
  • Holds tech crew meetings on a regular basis
  • Requests room space in advance for regular meetings and events
  • Promotes and publicizes tech crew involvement via posters, fliers, announcements, or social media, if applicable
  • Communicates and hold students accountable to a standard of expected behavior
  • Plans accordingly for tech crew socials and other activities related to tech
  • Maintains positive relationships with students, supports our diverse populations, and interacts with students and adults in a respectful manner
  • Facilitates student planning for tech crew meetings, events, and activities
  • Works with Theater Director to oversee the correct and responsible use of tech crew funds
  • Provides supervision and safety of students, materials, equipment and facilities
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned by administration

Specific Duties to this Club

  • Oversees the student tech crew with the technical direction of the show
  • Provides instruction and technical support to the students using safe, industry-standard procedures
  • Communicates effectively with parent directors/producers, theater director, staff, and students
  • Applies working knowledge of sound equipment, lighting equipment, and various special effects to the teaching and leading of the student tech crew

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred
Ability to:

  • Understand and follow basic oral and written instructions
  • Deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner
  • Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner
  • Maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils
  • Communicate to students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner
  • Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner

Pay Rate/Range*: $4,370-5,205 depending on experience
