The Glenwood Avenue Arts Festival (GAAF) is an 18 year old neighborhood Arts Festival in Rogers Park. It is a weekend street festival, featuring approximately 125 artists, local food and beer vendors and multiple stages of live entertainment. The festival spans three days and takes place the third weekend of August.
We are seeking a Festival Manager for 2019. The Festival Manager needs to be available for meetings, calls and able to work with a great deal of flexibility and commitment for approximately six months. The successful candidate will be extraordinarily organized, creative and high energy. You will be working directly with the Glenwood Avenue Arts District (GAAD) Board of Directors and community volunteers. This position requires someone who is comfortable asking for help and can be persuasive.
The Board of Directors will be raising the money for the festival and performing many of the key functions. We bring our 19 years of experience to support you in all aspects of the festival. Your duties will include:
– Managing the efforts of the board and the committees that they lead
– Work with Board to create and manage the festival budget
– Oversee all permitting, licensing and insurance
– Communicate to community, volunteers, artists, vendors and sponsors
– Manage all contracts with vendors, suppliers and entertainment
– Plan and manage festival logistics
You should have experience with coordinating festivals, theater stage management and/or production management or similar endeavors. You should be fluent in social media, be comfortable promoting events and have an excellent working knowledge of spreadsheets, word docs, email and collaborative work spaces.
