Loose Cannon is currently hiring an Intimacy Director for our Fall production of THE ALLIGATOR GOSPELS. Candidates with a background in Intimacy Directing/Choreographing are highly encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Intimacy Director will work with the director and cast to create intimate and physical moments between characters on stage in a respectful, safe, and consensual environment. Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Meeting with directing and producing team members to establish the vision of the scene(s).
  • Familiarizing oneself with the text and specific moments of intimacy that need to be choreographed.
  • Designing and directing moments of intimacy that respects the artists’ boundaries, establishes clear communication, and fulfills the intended purpose of the intimacy.
  • Providing clear communication with actors before, during, and after directing/choreographing scenes.
  • Ensuring compliance in legal and industry standards regarding intimacy, touch, vulnerability, etc.

TIMELINE: The Intimacy Director will have a total of 2-3 rehearsals dedicated to the establishing, integration, and rehearsal of moments of intimacy. These sessions will take place throughout the early weeks of rehearsals at the availability of the Intimacy Director and necessary cast. The Intimacy Director is not required to attend all rehearsals, only those when said direction is required. Rehearsals begin Sunday, October 11, 2026. Below is a breakdown of our production timeline.

  • Weekly rehearsals Monday-Wednesday (6:30PM-10:00PM) and occasional Sundays (12:00PM-4:00PM).
  • Tech begins Monday, November 16, 2026, at the Bramble Arts Loft in Andersonville.
  • Five (5) total performances from November 19-22, 2026.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The ideal candidate will have a background in Intimacy Direction/Choreography for the stage and/or screen.
  • Excellent communication skills, both in private and in group settings.
  • Approach rehearsals with empathy and a willingness to adjust direction/choreography at the comfort and consent of the actor(s).
  • Ability to maintain complete professionalism and confidentiality throughout and after the completion of the production process.
