Metropolis Performing Arts Centre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in the heart of downtown Arlington Heights. It houses a 329-seat theater space as well as a full school of performing arts that includes drama, dance, and music lessons. The Group Sales Coordinator reports to the Audience Services Director, and is responsible for initiating, administering and maintaining group sales for theatrical productions.
The ideal candidate is motivated, outgoing, organized, committed to excellent customer service and developing relationships in the pursuit of building a robust group sales program. This position coordinates with other departments within the organization in order to fulfill their duties. Duties and responsibilities include responding to inquiries, answering questions, processing tickets, payments, and contracts, as well as, outreach efforts both from the office and out in the field to build relationships, programs, and sales. The flexible schedule allows for a wide range of other options including theater and related artistic pursuits.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Correspondence via phone and email, with existing and potential clients
Prompt processing of contracts and payments, including required follow-up and detailed/accurate record keeping
Provide detailed information to groups including directions for unloading, bus/parking instructions, show duration, etc., and send reminders prior to performances.
Greet field trip groups on performance days/assist House Manager in seating
Send thank you emails following the performances and garner feedback
Work with appropriate senior staff members to identify specific performances to target for group sales opportunities
Identify potential clients and conduct outreach via phone/email/in person
Work with Executive Managing Director and Marketing Director on marketing opportunities, including e-blasts and printed media distribution
Coordinate with Audience Services Director and Supervisor on scheduling
Requirements and Qualifications:
Group Sales or Marketing experience preferred
Theatre knowledge preferred
Computer proficiency a must – experience with Word, Excel, Gmail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented, motivated, and self-sufficient
Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed
Ability to organize and manage multiple contract/contacts/etc.
