Northlight Theatre is now hiring a full-time Education & Community Programs Manager. The Education & Community Programs Manager is responsible for establishing the curriculum of Education and Community Engagement programs in consultation with the Artistic and Executive staff. This role is the primary supervisor for Northlight’s Teaching Artist cohort and manages and administers all Northlight Education & Community Engagement programs. Reporting to the Associate Artistic Director, the position coordinates the programs to ensure that they are enhancing and supplementing the Northlight season and mission. The Education & Community Programs Manager oversees and supports offsite residencies and workshops at schools and community organizations, and runs the Student Matinee series as well as the Accessibility and Professional Training programs.

The Education & Community Programs Manager will be joining Northlight at a transformational time. Northlight is currently building a new, state-of-the-art theatre in downtown Evanston, the first time in their 50-year history that Northlight will own their own space. The staff will move from Skokie to the new office space in downtown Evanston in early 2026, which is easily accessible by several forms of public transportation. The new theatre will open in September 2026.

Qualifications: Experience working with youth in arts education is required, as is prior administration of arts programming. Must be an efficient multitasker with a love for live theatre, with the ability to be self-directed as well as collaborate with others, with strong interpersonal skills, and a positive and professional demeanor. Experience in working with neurodiverse individuals, individuals with physical disabilities, or senior citizens is a plus. This position requires transportation to multiple job sites across the Chicagoland area. Though not required, access to a personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license is recommended.

Job Location: This position is onsite at 9501 Skokie Blvd in Skokie, relocating to Church Street in Evanston in early 2026. The position regularly works 9:30 am-5:30 pm M-F, but may flex those hours to include some early mornings, nights, and weekends at multiple sites, including the theatre, schools, and community partners at various locations. Limited remote work is possible. An exact onsite/remote work schedule will be determined based on department needs and staff member preference.

Compensation: Compensation range is $42,000 to $45,000 annually, competitive with prevailing compensation for similar positions within the non-profit performing arts industry, and commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the applicant. This position is eligible for benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance and paid time off.
