Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized, customer-focused, and enthusiastic Seasonal Box Office Manager to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of the box office during our busy seasonal period, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient ticket sales, and smooth operations for all events. You will manage a team of box office staff, assist with event ticketing, and provide support to patrons throughout their experience.
Position: Box Office Manager (Contract)
Salary: $4,000
Contract Duration:
May 5, 2025 – June 30, 2025: 8 hours per week (remote)
July 1, 2025 – August 17, 2025: 20 hours per week (onsite at Austin Gardens)
August 18, 2025 – August 31, 2025: 8 hours per week (remote)
July/August 2025 Onsite Schedule in Austin Gardens:
July 1-3 and July 5-6: Evenings only
July 7- August 17: Wednesday through Sunday evenings
Responsibilities
- The Box Office Manager at Oak Park Festival Theatre is responsible for overseeing box office operations, providing exceptional customer service, and overseeing a team of student apprentices
- This role involves handling ticket sales, managing financial transactions, and ensuring smooth operations during events
- Provides regular sales reports on ticketed events, as requested
- Works with Business Manager to frame how Box Office interfaces with patron services and front-of-house during events
- Responsible for the smooth operation of night-of-show ticketing, which includes oversight of off-site ticketing services such as Ticket Tailor and Hot Tix and on-site ticket sales/will-call
- Acts as a representative of the Box Office with the public both in person and on the phone; handles customer complaints and issues as it relates to box office events and front of house
- Participates in and assists with sales promotions and initiatives
- Makes suggestions where appropriate in relation to ticket sales and/or audience segmentation
- Assists with Ticket Tailor website administration and updates, including tracking website analytics relevant to Box Office sales activities
- Manages regular cash and check deposits
- Presents a positive and welcoming first impression to customers
- Gains knowledge of other Front of House job duties, including House Management and Concessions Manager, and may be asked to cover if necessary
- Has a moderate/high level of authority in selling products and services
- Plays a key role in the execution of sales and marketing programs
- Performs other related work as needed
Qualifications
- College degree or currently in college preferred
- Previous experience in box office operations, customer service, or event management preferred
- Proficient in Excel and or Google Sheets and other Windows based computer programs
- Excellent customer service, communication skills and phone etiquette
- Attention to details a must
- Remain pleasant during challenging situations
- Work efficiently and independently
- Display emotional intelligence
- Availability to work nights and weekends July 1, 2025 through August 17, 2025
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs as necessary for box office tasks.
