Job purpose

The Facilities/Operations Director (FOD) is responsible for ensuring optimum operation in an attentive, friendly, efficient and courteous manner, providing all OPFT staff and artists with a clean, functional, and safe environment.

Duties and responsibilities

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • This operations and logistics manager is responsible for all stage based assets and logistics as they relate to all Oak Park Festival Theatre programming.
  • The FOD will hire, schedule, train and supervise all Master technicians, overhire stagehands, electricians, sound engineers, follow spot operators and running crew for the designated production.
  • The FOD will manage and track all OPFT facilities and stage assets including equipment, rental equipment and return of rental equipment, logistics for show changeovers and scheduling stage maintenance projects.

Primary Objectives:

  • Facilitate a safe and functional production site and venue that is executed on-time and on-budget
  • Maintain a high-level of performance and positive attitude while overseeing multiple teams
  • Develop an artist-oriented culture that emphasizes quality and high performance, inclusivity and collaboration, and above all respect to every member of the team

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Facilities, Assets, and Logistics
  • Ensure theatre work and production spaces are cleaned and operable according to operating standards
  • Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc. for all production crews
  • Track inventory and disbursement of all tools and specialized equipment
  • Complete regular safety inspections of facility prior to arrival of stage management during the rehearsal and production
  • Manage OPFT Labor Force
  • Manage and schedule the general labor force of OPFT, including all general labor, as well as interns, according to production needs
  • Manage Intern professional development by monitoring and overseeing Internship Development Program
  • Keep staff focused on the critical components of operations to drive artist and patron satisfaction, and the desired results of production
  • Ensure the financial responsibility of the Facilities and Operations of OPFT
  • Supervise the budgeting and ordering of equipment
  • Manage areas of operation to budget by reviewing operating statements and budget worksheets
  • Manage department controllable expenses and cost to achieve budget goals
  • Develop and maintain procedures for use of facilities, structures, equipment, and rentals
  • Develop and maintain written policy and procedures for equipment management and facility upkeep
  • Conduct training classes regarding safety, security, department procedures, and service guidelines
  • Assure staff follows established safety regulations in the use of equipment and facilities at all times

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • 3 years in an operations or facilities management role
  • Any previous experience working in outdoor theatre
  • Working knowledge of all technical aspects of production
  • Knowledge of OSHA, IDPH, and HFS regulations relevant to the management of a production facility, including rental structures, equipment, and personnel
  • Basic understanding of financial statements
  • Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree or equal requisite training in a professional setting
  • Valid Drivers License

Working conditions

Oak Park Festival Theatre is primarily an outdoor summer theatre.  Additionally, current offices are on the third floor in a building with no elevator.

Physical requirements

Oak Park Festival Theatre is a primarily outdoor summer theater. To participate to the fullest ability of the job, any applicant must be able to fulfill the physical demands of working in an outdoor environment. This job is on-site and should be considered to be physically demanding. Applicants must be able to lift, push, pull, move equipment and supplies in excess of fifty (50) pounds as required

Pay Range: 3500 +/- dependent on experience
