Oil Lamp Theater is seeking a dedicated and organized Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) for our upcoming production of It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. The position is akin to that of an understudy for the Stage manager of a production, ASM’s will shadow the SM and be available to call a performance if the SM is not available. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in stage management while working in a storefront theater setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend production meetings (usually virtual)
  • Attend the first rehearsal/ designer presentations
  • Attend at least one rehearsal per week throughout the rehearsal process.
  • Be present for all designer runs, technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and preview performances.
  • Attend one performance per week to shadow the Stage Manager.
  • Be on call to step in and call performances if the Stage Manager is unavailable.
  • Support the Stage Manager with rehearsal and performance logistics.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in stage management, either at college, community or professional theaters.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have means of transportation to get to Glenview, IL.

Pay: 

$500 stipend, plus $40 per show called

Key Dates:

First Rehearsal: October 7

Rehearsals will be: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays 7-10pm; Saturdays 10am-1pm

We will need the ASM present for the following rehearsals from 7-10pm: October 13, 15, 29 and November 11

Tech will take place on Saturday, November 15 and Sunday November 16 from 10am-5pm.

Dress Rehearsals will take place from November 17-19 from 6:00-10:30pm

Previews night: Thursday, November 20, 2025
Opening night: Friday November 21, 2025

Regular Run: Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30pm; Saturday and Sundays at 3pm; Wednesdays December 3 and 17 (at 11am and 3pm) and December 10 (at 7:30pm); Sundays December 14 and 21 at 7:30pm. There will be no performances on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day.

Closing Performance: Sunday, December 28 (matinee)
