General Manager
Full-Time Position | $45,000–$48,000 per Year

Oil Lamp Theater seeks an organized and proactive General Manager to oversee our daily operations and systems. Located in Glenview, IL, our theater is a nonprofit 60-seat professional venue dedicated to producing intimate, high-quality performances that inspire and connect our community. With a growing education program and plans to expand our impact, Oil Lamp Theater is at an exciting stage of growth. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team and support the theater’s mission and growth.

About the Role
As General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing daily operations, overseeing administrative and routine development tasks, and supporting audience services as needed. Working closely with the Executive Director and collaborating with staff and board, this role oversees payroll, benefits, scheduling, databases, and other operational needs. While primarily an onsite position, some administrative tasks may be completed remotely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administrative Management
    • Manage payroll and employee benefits.
    • Handle communication through the theater’s main inbox and assist in scheduling.
    • Assemble board meeting packets and serve as meeting scribe.
    • Draft, review, and coordinate contracts with staff, artists, and vendors.
    • Process and allocate expenses and income in QuickBooks.
    • Reconcile accounts, monitor cash flow, and assist the Executive Director in assembling tax and audit documents.
  • Development and Fundraising
    • Provide grant support, including gathering data and assisting with reporting.
    • Batch and maintain individual donation records in the database.
    • Enact basic donor stewardship tasks, including acknowledgments and coordinating follow-ups.
  • Audience Services
    • Manage the reporting and events set up in Arts People.
    • Assist in responding to customer inquiries via phone and email, and manage the box office inbox.

Qualifications

  • Required Skills:
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Google Workspace, and Donor CRMs.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience in nonprofit or arts management.
    • Familiarity with ticketing platforms and donor CRMs.

While Experience with specific software is preferred, training will be provided for the right candidate.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary of $45,000–$48,000.
  • Paid time off.
  • Qualified Health Expense Reimbursement Arrangement (QHESRA), effective after 90 days of employment.
  • Optional 401(k) retirement savings plan.
