Oil Lamp Theater (OLT) is a professional not-for-profit theater organization that is dedicated to the presentation of traditional theater in a unique, inviting and intimate venue. Its mission is not only to stimulate interest in the performing arts but also to promote a sense of, and provide a service to, the community. In March 2012, Oil Lamp Theater was incorporated as a not-for-profit theater and established its new location in downtown Glenview at 1723 Glenview Road. Our venue provides seating for 60 guests.
Oil Lamp Theater is currently seeking a House Manager. The preferred applicant will be organized, polished, comfortable interacting with patrons, staff and volunteers and poised under pressure while providing quality customer service. The part-time schedule will coincide with performances and special events, consisting primarily of afternoons, evenings and weekends.
-Serve as House Manager for public performances and special events.
– Coordinate with Office staff on seating holds and patron information.
-Assist patrons with questions, accessibility needs and/or seating issues.
-Ensure that interior and exterior public areas are clean and accessible, including the lobby, theater and restrooms.
-If the production allows, late seat patrons after the performance begins.
-Step in as bartender during high-volume situations.
-Prepare House Manager and Box Office reports after each shift.
-Run will call desk including ticket sales, seat assignments and welcome guests.
-Coordinate and train volunteers including Saints.
-Ability to deliver effective and positive top of show speech.
-Top-level customer service experience required. Experience in theatrical audience services preferred.
-Outgoing, accessible personality with the ability to speak in front of people.
-Superior organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multi-task.
-Professional demeanor while working under pressure.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
-Experience with Point of Sale credit card processing a plus.
-Strong interest and passion for live theater.
-Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
-Afternoon, evening and weekend availability is required.
Part-time; approximately 20 hours per week during performance weeks (approximately 40 weeks per year)
