Pegasus Theatre is searching for a driven, dynamic candidate to join our team! The Producing Associate will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of duties, including programming, and audience development/engagement. You will have a hand in bringing our annual Young Playwrights Festival (YPF) to schools, and developing audiences to support new work from youth and professionals.
Who We Are
Pegasus Theatre develops and produces boldly imaginative theatre, and champions diverse, new and authentic voices primarily by and about Black and other people of color. We are dedicated to examining social issues on stage and engaging in arts education programs that develop the next generation of writers, thinkers and game changers.
Key Duties/Responsibilities
Young Playwrights CPS program:
- Works with the EPD to develop and expand education programs
- Maintains existing and builds new relationships with educators and administrators
- Coordinates with teachers and schools to schedule workshops, residencies and matinees
- Moderates post-matinee performance talk-backs for schools
- Gathers and maintains program reports
- Generates final reports for submission to funders
YPF Competition & Events:
- Coordinates YPF competition phase (solicit volunteer readers, follow-up, receipt and distribution of evaluations, etc. through 3 rounds)
- Assists with the Final Round Immersion Workshops and Final Round programming
- Assists Alumni program manager with mentoring activities and meetings
- Coordinates event activities, including recognitions/awards, refreshments, swag, and any technical requirements
Audience Development and Engagement:
- Provides support to the EPD on developing projects and initiatives;
- Work with Marketing Associate on marketing and social media postings.
- Assist as needed with front of house operations
- Creates and coordinates audience development initiatives
- Co-manages community engagement projects and initiatives
- Collaborates audience development for new works, mainstage, event and festival initiatives
- Coordinates post-show discussions and panels
- Assists with other engagement tasks as needed
Requirements
- 1-2 year history of programming, producing, event management or program related experience
- 1 year relationship management experience including excellent communication skills, collaborative teamwork
- Highly motivated, a self-starter demonstrating initiative, flexibility and resilience under pressure
- Arts administration training and/or arts education management a plus
- A passion for developing new work, young writers and future theatre makers
- Motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills, follow-though and attention to detail
- A sense of humor and a calm confident presence during chaotic periods
- A passion for creative problem-solving and collaboration
